In addition to its unmistakable egg-crate pattern, this classic sound absorber features a large number of unbeatable characteristics in terms of acoustics and flexibility. As a result, it is extremely popular with mechanical engineers, technicians and vehicle builders.

The SH0021 MH sound insulation mat has a modified surface structure that is created using a special compression process. Since the sound-absorbing surface is larger than for smooth sound absorbers, the sound absorption coefficient improves in the medium and high-frequency range.

Thanks to the optimal combination of high absorption values, extraordinary flame resistance and chemical resistance, these acoustic elements are suitable for use in almost any technical application area. They are especially recommended for areas that require increased fire protection and/or greater resistance to chemicals.

The sound insulation mats can be attached to almost any sub-surface. These mats for insulating mechanical noise have a very low net weight. In addition, the absorption mats are manufactured on a cost-effective continuous compression cutting line and offer optimal heat insulation as well as outstanding acoustic properties.

Chemical resistance
As a duroplastic material as per EN ISO 175, SH0021 MH is resistant to many substances. Because of their highly networked structure, the sound insulation mats are resistant to all organic solvents. For acids and bases, resistance must be checked on a case-by-case basis, since the sound insulation panels’ resistance to these substances strongly depends on their temperature, residence time and concentration. Strict fire protection standard required?
These acoustic elements with flat surfaces meet fire protection classification DIN4102 B1 (without acoustic heavy foil lamination) and thus facilitate approval during fire protection inspections.

aixFOAM self-adhesive backing
For this type of adhesion, we mechanically apply an acrylic-based adhesive to the reverse side of the sound insulation mats. In the next step, the adhesive film is covered by a scrim of threads, and then with liner paper. The consumer simply removes the paper and installs the absorber mat in the proper place.
This adhesive system, optimized over many years, is odorless and features extremely strong initial and final adhesion. The adhesive’s temperature resistance is between -40 and +90 °C.

aixFOAM assembly/suspension cassette
These offer you an extremely high-quality mounting option. The aixFOAM cassettes are made from anodized aluminum, and turn any of our products into a premium absorber. The assembly/suspension cassette allows the sound absorber to be integrated into an existing machine structures and attached to aluminum-profile or other support structures. In this way, self-supporting machine housings can be realized at a reasonable cost.
For subsequent sound protection measures on existing machines or plants, the acoustic insulation is often positioned directly at the machine using a ceiling-mounted suspension system and an assembly/suspension cassette to suspend it above the noise source.
Our aixFOAM assembly/suspension cassettes come equipped with your chosen aixFOAM absorber. Alternatively, you can order the cassettes from us separately, as individual products in various packing units, under “Accessories.” You will also find our aixFOAM vibration bolts and the aixFOAM suspension system for professional assembly here.
The assembly/suspension cassettes do not just play a static support role; they also absorb deep acoustic frequencies thanks to the “counter-vibration effect.” In this way, they effectively increase the absorption level of the sound absorber in the low frequency range (resonator) and increase its acoustic effect. aixFOAM acoustic heavy-duty film lamination
The optional acoustic heavy-duty film lamination is recommended for improving absorption in the low frequency range. Thanks to its above-average surface weight, this heavy, very flexible mineral-filled film without reinforcements absorbs low frequencies and material vibrations. Its outstanding damping properties are maintained even at low temperatures. The material, which is also flame-resistant, is hidden under a layer of your chosen basic product. Alternatively, you can also buy SH0131 aixFOAM acoustic heavy-duty film as an individual product.

Processing instructions Acoustic Heavy Foil
aixFOAM Acoustic Heavy Foil is equipped with a specially developed acrylic based adhesive system. The adhesive system must be used only on flat surfaces at macro level, e.g. sheet metal and aluminium. On rough surfaces the adhesive system can be used as mounting asssistance only. Further information is available in our technical datasheets and processing instructions, which could be send free of charge upon request.

The shown fire classification refer exclusively to the acoustic foam chosen. With a few exceptions, the acoustic foam offered with fire classification DIN 4102 B1 or B2 is also certified including the self-adhesive equipment.

That allows us to provide each customer with a customized aixFOAM sound absorption product that is tailored to the customer’s specific needs and applications.

Thanks to its wide absorption spectrum, this classic sound insulation mat can be used in many different areas. Among other things, the egg-crate pattern provides optimal sound insulation in the medium and high-frequency range. Combined with the optional acoustic heavy-duty film lamination, the SH0021 MH also offers very good absorption in the low-frequency range.
